Who we are
Holdwater (“Holdwater,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a data, media, and analytics company based in North Carolina, USA. We operate the website at holdwater.ai (the “Site”).
If you have any question about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact us at hello@holdwater.ai.
Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy covers the Site and the communications that start from it, such as briefing requests and emails you send to us. It explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If your organization becomes a Holdwater customer, our handling of data within the Holdwater platform, Analyst Co-pilot, and related services is governed by the separate agreements we sign with your organization (for example, a master services agreement and data processing terms). Where those agreements conflict with this policy, those agreements control for that data.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you request a briefing through the contact form or email us, we collect what you choose to share. On the form, that is your name, work email address, company, the area you are interested in, and your message. If you email us, we receive your email address, name as shown in your email, and the contents of your message and any attachments.
Technical information. Like most websites, the Site’s hosting provider automatically processes basic technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the pages requested, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This data is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.
What we do not collect. The Site does not offer user accounts or logins today, and we do not ask for payment information, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information through the Site. Please do not send us sensitive personal information or confidential business information through the form or by email unless we have agreed to receive it under a nondisclosure agreement.
How we use information
We use the information described above to respond to your inquiry and follow up about a briefing or engagement you asked about; to operate, maintain, and secure the Site, including detecting and preventing abuse; to understand what content is useful and improve the Site; and to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
How we share information
Service providers. We share information with vendors that help us run the Site and our business, only as needed for them to provide their services and under obligations to protect it. These include our website host (Spacefast), our email and productivity providers, and our domain and DNS provider. The Site also loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address and basic browser information under Google’s own privacy policy.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law, regulation, subpoena, or court order, or that it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Holdwater, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If Holdwater is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a policy that is at least as protective.
With your direction. We may share information with others when you ask us to, for example by introducing you to a partner.
How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to you and to pursue the conversation you started, and afterward for as long as we have a legitimate business or legal reason to keep it, such as keeping a record of our correspondence or meeting legal obligations. When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it. Technical log data held by our host is kept for limited periods according to the host’s retention practices.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) to the Site and access controls on the systems we use. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, contact us right away at hello@holdwater.ai.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not run analytics or tracking cookies that we control on the Site today. Our hosting provider may set or use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to deliver the Site and protect it against abuse. These are required for the Site to work and are not used to track you across other websites.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect how the Site works. If we add analytics or other non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy before we do and offer any choices required by law.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights, including California and other US states
Depending on where you live, including California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws, you may have the right to know or access the personal information we hold about you, to request that we correct inaccurate information, to request that we delete it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You also have the right to opt out of the “sale” of personal information or its “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months.
The categories of personal information we have collected in the past 12 months are identifiers and contact details (such as name and email address), professional information (such as company and the area you are interested in), the contents of your messages, and internet activity information (such as IP address and browser details processed by our host). We collect them from you and from your browser, for the purposes and with the recipients described above. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information.
To make a request, email hello@holdwater.ai with the subject line “Privacy request” and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will verify your request using the information we already have, such as by confirming you control the email address you contacted us from. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of their authority. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and if you live in a state that provides one, you may contact your state attorney general about the result.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
International visitors
Holdwater is based in the United States, and the Site and our systems are operated from the United States. If you access the Site or contact us from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, such as a notice on the Site.
